Nexus Centre for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences presents
a round-table workshop for academics and non-academics about the
problems, processes, and promotional possibilities of translating
research into infographics and data visualization. Featuring:
* Nicole Labossière (of Goss-Gilroy Inc. management consultancy firm)
evaluating problems with and solutions to data visualization designs in
government reports
* Cathy Newhook (of the Harris Centre at Memorial University) discussing
the popularity and visual appeal of the annual Vital Signs publication
that transposes readily available Newfoundland and Labrador statistics
into legible and accessible communication for the general population
* Liam Swift (Sociology faculty member at Memorial University)
reflecting on the appropriate, communicative, and ethical use of
statistics in data visualization in academic presentations and
publications
* Makayla Swain (Biology graduate student at Memorial University)
reporting on her development process for producing infographics, with step-by-step demonstration
