Yoga and White Public Space

Talk / 2022-03-09

MMaP and the Nexus Centre for Humanities & Social Sciences Research are pleased to present the following free public talk as part of Dr. Rumya Putcha’s virtual residency:

Yoga and White Public Space

Goat yoga, beer yoga, trap yoga, holy yoga, museum yoga. These are just a few examples of the way yoga has become domesticated in the Anglo-American context, particularly in public spaces. This talk explores how that happened and what it reveals about yoga as well as the way we think about public space.

This event is presented in partnership with Memorial University’s Department of Folklore, Department of Gender Studies, and Internationalization Office.
