Call for Interest – Nexus Colloquium
The Nexus Centre for Humanities and Social Science Research will host a colloquium series throughout the Fall and Winter semster 2019-20. Faculty or students in the Humanities and Social Sciences who are interested in sharing their work as part of an ongoing discussion series are invited to submit expressions of interest for the Nexus Colloquium. We are also interested in hearing from members of the community surrounding Memorial who may have work to share at Nexus.
Nexus also has a small amount of funds to support travel costs for external speakers. For departments looking to stretch SITA budgets, Nexus is certainly interested in partnering on costs related to external speakers.
Topics will be accepted from across subjects, particularly those that are aimed at collaborative or interdisciplinary research, innovative teaching and learning practices, or non-traditional pedagogy. Discussions and presentations may take a variety of forms, from round-tables and panels, to a more traditional presentation style followed by a question and answer period. One format we are particularly encouraging is interdisciplinary panels focused on a particular issue of interest, with speakers giving short (5-10 min.) presentations on how their research addresses the issue. The idea is to leave a lot of time for discussion afterwards.
Please contact Dr. John Sandlos at firstname.lastname@example.org with an quick email before July 31st if you have an idea, although expressions of interest will be accepted on a rolling basis.
