Message from the Vice-President (Research), Dr. Tana Allen:
Dear colleagues,
As many of you know, we don’t have to look far to find inspiration here at Memorial -- especially when you talk to our student researchers. They’re motivated, smart and keen on truly making a difference. I had the pleasure of meeting some next generation leaders while attending a couple of events recently, and I was inspired by their stories and their incredible enthusiasm for their studies.
You will find that same sort of inspiration and enthusiasm during our eighth annual Research Week, which is happening Nov. 24-28.
Here’s my personal invitation to you to join in the celebration! Take some time to meet our students, researchers, staff, postdocs and community partners. Take in a presentation, attend a lecture or exhibit and find time to learn about some of the fascinating research taking place on our campuses and the positive impact our teams are making here at home and around the world.
Big thanks to everyone hosting events this year; your contributions are what make Research Week such a meaningful event.
From the very beginning eight years ago, Research Week has always been about collaboration, community and celebrating Memorial’s extraordinary research. Today our flagship event has grown to become one of the cornerstones of our fall activities.
If you’re hosting an event, please send the details, including the title of the session, date, time, virtual log-in instructions or room/building location and a short description to vprfeedback@mun.ca no later than Monday, Nov. 10, so we can add them to an online events calendar. Further information about Research Week will be added so check back for updates.
Those who are organizing sessions are also invited to utilize a suite of marketing collateral our colleagues in the Division of Marketing and Communications. Please see attached for some samples or email jeffg@mun.ca or jackey.locke@mun.ca for additional files.
We recognize November is a busy time of the year and that organizing an event during this time may not work for everyone. With that in mind, you are invited to host spin-off Research Week sessions, or Research Spotlight events, in the New Year, at times more convenient for you and your team.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for Research Week 2025!
Dr. Tana Allen Vice-President (Research) #researchweek2025
