RIO & SGS workshop: Intellectual Property

This session offers an introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) and Memorial’s Technology Transfer and Commercialization team at the Research Innovation Office (RIO).

We will cover the basics of IP, delving into copyright, trade secrets, trademarks, and patents, which are all different methods of IP protection that are utilized at Memorial. The session will also review IP ownership, inventorship, and the disclosure process.

This overview will help attendees understand when to engage with the team, key intellectual property considerations for students, and ways we can help advance ideas toward commercial opportunities.
