This engaging session will explore how intellectual property (IP) and commercialization pathways support the transition of ideas from research to real-world impact and will feature:
Angela Avery – Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Acting), Memorial University
Kushal Shah, Gowling WLG
Kushal Shah is an internationally trained lawyer and patent agent in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office with experience working with startups, universities, and multinational organizations.
He works alongside patent agents in the life sciences group, and assists them with drafting and prosecuting applications in the areas of biotechnology, genetics, microbiology, pharmaceutical formulations, clean technology, diagnostics, and medical devices. He holds a LLB an MSc in Biotechnology and has delivered numerous lectures and seminars on intellectual property, with special emphasis on patent drafting, research, and analysis.
This session is ideal for researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in translating innovation into impact.
