The Ocean Frontier Institute has announced a call for research proposals for Phase 2 of its funding. For more information see https://oceanfrontierinstitute.com/research-funding-call.These proposals require that faculty work in teams to address two research themes: 1) The North Atlantic as a Climate Ocean and 2) Coastal Communities and the Ocean. To facilitate establishing teams for this competition, Memorial University has established a working group to help connect researchers. The purpose of this team is not to filter proposals, limit participation, or even lead proposals, but instead is playing the role of matchmaker. There will be no internal vetting of Memorial applications being put forward for this opportunity by this group. The working group includes:
Dr. Uta Passow – Faculty of Science (uta.passow@mun.ca)
Dr. Helen Zhang - Faculty of Engineering (bzhang@mun.ca)
Ms. Heather C. O’Brien - Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSSResearchAdmin@mun.ca)
Ms. Kelley Santos – Marine Institute (Kelley.Santos@mi.mun.ca)
If you are not currently part of a team but are interested in participating, please send your name, contact information, and expertise relevant to the research themes by Friday, March 29 at 5 pm. We also ask faculty who are establishing a team to provide a brief description of the proposed research and the tentative team members to our working group, and indicate whether you are seeking additional expertise for your proposal as well as the nature of that expertise. The purpose of this latter request is to minimize overlapping proposals and duplication of effort.
If you are agreeable to it, we can also upload your information to OFI's match-making website found here: https://oceanfrontierinstitute.com/research-funding-call/ideas-collaborators. If you are looking for collaborators to team up with, please feel free to contact researchers on this list.
