Memorial University’s Public Engagement Accelerator Fund is intended to help meet the goals and objectives of Memorial’s Public Engagement Framework by increasing capacity of our faculty, students and staff to collaborate with partners outside the University (i.e., the public).
The fund offers up to $10,000 to support the initiation or extension of public engagement projects that link to Memorial’s academic mission.
Please review the Accelerator Fund Guide for more information.
The objectives of the Public Engagement Accelerator Fund are to:
Support faculty, staff and students at Memorial in activities that foster public engagement and collaboration;
Further the goals and objectives of the Public Engagement Framework;
Further the mission of Memorial University and help it meet its special obligation to the citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Proposed projects can be from any discipline and from any geographic area of the province.
This opportunity is NOT submitted through Memorial's Researcher Portal (RP). In order to obtain HSS Dean's Office signature, you must add "Matthew Milner, HSS Grants Facilitator" as a "member" on your application in the Public Engagement and Harris Centre Application Hub - you can choose to add this member with "Read- only" access. Please note that all cash and in-kind contributions must be supported with documentation; as well, approvals must be obtained from Memorial co-investigator departments and/or faculties if they are outside of the principle applicant's. Please e-mail these documents to Matthew by the HSS internal deadline listed below.
Once you have completed all of the sections of the application, obtained all necessary back-up documents, and obtained departmental signature on the signatory pages, e-mail everything to Matthew Milner at HSSResearchGrants@mun.ca who will then perform the HSS administrative review and facilitate obtaining Dean's Office signature for both the application's signatory page and the HSS Signatory Form.
If you plan to apply for any of these or other funding opportunities (as either PI or CI), e-mail an HSS Grants Facilitator, Heather C. O’Brien (HSSResearchAdmin@mun.ca or 864-8603) or Matthew Milner (HSSResearchGrants@mun.ca or 864-8050), to notify the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of your intent to apply. E-mailing the intent to apply as early as possible will help to facilitate an efficient review. A Grants Facilitator can answer any questions you may have about internal or external submission procedures.
