Description

Memorial University’s Public Engagement Accelerator Fund is intended to help meet the goals and objectives of Memorial’s Public Engagement Framework by increasing the capacity of our faculty, students and staff to collaborate with partners and stakeholders outside the University (i.e., the public).

The fund offers up to $10,000 to support the initiation or extension of public engagement projects that link to Memorial’s academic mission.

The objectives of the Public Engagement Accelerator Fund are to:

  1. Support faculty, staff and students at Memorial in activities that foster public engagement and collaboration;

  2. Further the goals and objectives of the Public Engagement Framework;

  3. Further the mission of Memorial University and help it meet its special obligation to the citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Any questions may be directed to engagement@mun.ca.

Submission Procedures

This opportunity is NOT submitted through Memorial's Researcher Portal (RP) but uses the Public Engagement and Harris Centre Application Hub. Please add "Heather C. O'Brien, HSS Grants Facilitator" or "Matthew Milner, HSS Grants Facilitator" as a "member" on your application; you may choose to add this member with "Read- only" access. Please note that all cash and in-kind contributions must be supported with documentation. As well, approvals must be obtained from Memorial co-investigator departments and/or faculties.

Once you have completed all of the sections of the application, obtained all necessary back-up documents, and obtained departmental signature on the signatory page, e-mailed the full application package to the Grants Facilitator handling your file by the HSS internal deadline listed below. The GFO will perform the HSS administrative review and request Dean's Office signature for the Signature Form. The application then uploads the form to the funder's portal and submits.

If you plan to apply to this competition or other research funding opportunities (as either PI or CI), e-mail an HSS Grants Facilitator, Heather C. O’Brien (HSSResearchAdmin@mun.ca or 864-8603) or Matthew Milner (HSSResearchGrants@mun.ca or 864-8050), to notify the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of your intent to apply. E-mailing the intent to apply as early as possible will help to facilitate an efficient review. A Grants Facilitator can answer any questions you may have about internal or external submission procedures and may also be able to help with proposal development.
