The Newfoundland and Labrador Health Research Fund (NLHRF) is an annual fund provided by Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and administered by the Faculty of Medicine that aims to build a comprehensive multi-disciplinary health research ecosystem in Newfoundland and Labrador. The 2025 NLHRF competition will feature up to 7 Innovation grants and 5 Trainee fellowships as described below.
Deadlines The Registration deadline for Innovation Grants will be: August 8th, 2025 The Application deadline for both the Innovation and Trainee competitions will be: September 19th, 2025.
The 2025 NLHRF competition will include the following two awards:
Innovation Grants
Up to six Innovation Grants will be awarded.
Each grant will be for a total amount of up to $100,000.
one year of funding with a one-year automatic extension to the authority to use funds
Trainee Fellowships
Up to five trainee fellowships will be awarded to full-time trainees
Currently enrolled or with a start date of Sept. 2025
Each top-up award is valued at $20,000
$20k awarded; $10k dispersed per year for 2 years

Post-Doctoral Fellows
