About the program
Visiting Fellowships are awarded to highly qualified researchers who intend to conduct innovative, full-time, and collaborative research at their host institutions. Projects and collaborations pursued through the Visiting Fellowship program should have a transformative approach, with a focus on action, and interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary knowledge. Community-based research is encouraged. Fellowships are intended to facilitate continued collaboration and co-publications between participating researchers and host institutions.
Types of Visiting Fellowships
Transforming Climate Action (TCA) Institutional Partner Visiting Fellowships take place entirely within Canada between eligible institutions.
International Visiting Fellowships allow researchers at an eligible partner institution in Canada to conduct short research visits at an eligible international partner institute (outgoing international VF), and vice versa (incoming international VF).
Submit by April 15 or October 15
For this fellowship funding, applicants submit directly to the unit or funding agency as per their instructions. Applications are not submitted to the Faculty of HSS for review, nor is there an internal HSS or RIS deadline.
If you plan to apply to this competition or other research funding opportunities (as either PI or CI), e-mail an HSS Grants Facilitator, Heather C. O’Brien (HSSResearchAdmin@mun.ca or 864-8603) or Matthew Milner (HSSResearchGrants@mun.ca or 864-8050), to notify the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of your intent to apply. E-mailing the intent to apply as early as possible will help to facilitate an efficient review. A Grants Facilitator can answer any questions you may have about internal or external submission procedures and may also be able to help with proposal development.
