A 5-week, introductory field school occuring in Upper Lake Melville, Labrador

The field school takes place in and around communities in Upper Lake Melville, Labrador. Participants interact with a variety of heritage sites and peoples, and will learn about the regions complex history and its relationship to social, cultural and political circumstances today. Students will develop applied skills valuable in the humanities, sciences and social sciences through the study of place and heritage, including, but not limited to: archaeological survey, excavation and monitoring; artifact cleaning, cataloguing, and storage; note-keeping, mapping, and data management; photography and digitization; heritage policy, legislation, and permitting; the history of Innu, Inuit and the ancestors; and, community participation and public engagement.
